Dr. Madhu Kanodia

Dr. Madhu Kanodia is a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at St. Stephen’s Hospital in Delhi, where she has been working since November 2013. A graduate of University College of Medical Sciences in Delhi, Dr. Kanodia obtained the postgraduate Diploma in Tuberculosis & Chest Diseases (DTCD) in 2008 from Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute in New Delhi. She is also a Diplomate of the National Board (DNB) in Respiratory Diseases and completed her Senior Residency at Rajan Babu Tuberculosis Hospital, which is Asia’s largest TB hospital and institute. Dr. Kanodia specialises in the treatment of asthma and tuberculosis (including multi-drug-resistant TB and XDR patients), and has a keen clinical interest in Interventional Pulmonology, Allergy and Immunology.

Dr. Madhu Kanodia has experience and expertise in all types of clinical and academic work, including outpatient and inpatient management, and ICU procedures. She is particularly proficient in the following:

Dr. Madhu Kanodia is also involved in teaching postgraduate DNB students and allied health students. She has a wide range of experience in managing patients with all types of respiratory disorders and has had the privilege of working with some of the stalwarts in the field of Respiratory Medicine. She has attended numerous conferences, lectures, workshops and courses to further her knowledge and skills in her areas of specialisation.

The Respiratory Medicine department at St. Stephen’s Hospital is equipped with a Bronchoscopy Lab and portable scope. The department performs 40-50 bronchoscopies per month, which include interventions for foreign body removal, glue insertion and electrocautery. All types of sleep studies are performed including overnight, split night and MSLT. There is a well-equipped Medical Thoracoscopy lab for pleural biopsies, open drainage of pleural collections, adesionolysis and pleurodesis. Comprehensive allergy packages are on offer, including skin allergy testing, immunocap (ELISA) and immunotherapy. A fully functional Pulmonary Rehabilitation clinic is run in collaboration with the department of Physical Medicine and Physiotherapy. Other services include a Smoking Cessation clinic with pharmacotherapy and counselling, Chest clinic, Tuberculosis clinic, Asthma and Allergy clinic, and special clinics for occupational lung diseases and interstitial lung diseases.
